Enhancing Your School and District Teaching and Learning Practices

CoreWork^® Diagnostics (CWD) is an online research-based program that empowers district and school leaders to benchmark their teaching and learning practices against those of higher performing school systems in order to raise student achievement to the level of college and career readiness.

CWD translates the research in higher performing schools. The online program provides district and school leaders the opportunity to self-assess their school system practices based on NCEA's research-based rubrics. The rubrics determine the level of fidelity of each practice within a school and/or district and benchmarks them against those of higher performing school systems. The result is a report that categorizes practices according to how similar or different they are from those of higher performing school systems and outlines recommendations for system-wide improvement.

• For Principals and School Leaders: CoreWork Diagnostics guides school leaders through an efficient school improvement planning process that is focused on ensuring students are college and career ready. By collaboratively identifying the strengths and weaknesses within the school, a leadership team can effectively leverage current resources to enhance the core practices that improve student achievement. To supplement CoreWork Diagnostics, NCEA has created valuable charts to benchmark school and district performance. CoreWork Performance Reports (CWPR) provide on-line data pictures of student-level state assessment performance data across years within NCEA's partnership states.

Two versions are available: school or district. CWPR may be purchased by school and district leaders. The purpose of the CoreWork Performance Reports is to provide schools and districts quantitative information in a clear and concise format to monitor and evaluate performance. CWPR offer customers a unique set of data pictures, otherwise inaccessible to most schools and districts. Most of the charts use data for Continuously Enrolled students, rather than all students, to show the strength of an educational system over time. These charts emphasize state-specific college and career readiness (CCR) targets, not just state-defined passing levels. Useful reference material (tutorials, reference guides, and activities) are included in this product to help customers use the charts to benchmark their performance.

CoreWork Performance Reports summarize data with the following types of charts:

• Performance, Comparison, and Subgroup Levels;
• Same Grade, Same Student, Comparison, and Subgroup Trends;
• Comparison Patterns; and
• Growth.

Data tables accompany charts, as appropriate.

The Growth charts reflect the percentage of students that achieved adequate growth towards state-specific CCR targets.
