Make an Impact by Volunteering

You don't have to be an educator or even a parent to feel passionate about helping young people succeed. One of the most rewarding ways to make a difference in your community is by volunteering. This can be done individually, as a group, or through an entire organization or business. There are many opportunities available at the local, state and national levels with organizations that are helping students prepare for their journey of lifelong development after high school. Some of these volunteer opportunities include:

  • Mentors
  • Tutors
  • Community Partners
  • Donors / Sponsors
  • Advocates

To help you get started, listed below are some nationally known organizations.

  • Communities in Schools – active in 25 states and Washington DC. They have nearly 200 local affiliates that serve the lowest performing schools and students most vulnerable to dropping out.
  • Girls, Inc. – inspiring all girls through life-changing programs and experiences to help navigate gender, economic, and social barriers.
  • Junior Achievement – fostering work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential.
  • United Way – creating opportunities for a quality education, a stable income and good health for all individuals.
